After the phenomenally successful CMF Phone 1, known for its modular construct and its ability to customize the device with back panels and accessories, CMF by Nothing is back. India, hold on: The CMF Phone 2 Pro is here to present another interpretation of the smartphone experience.

Starting at just Rs. 18,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB model, and Rs. 20,999 for the maxed-out 8GB RAM/256GB version, this phone empowers you to personalize like never before with its unique DIY back panel. But the fun doesn’t stop there. This phone is loaded with features that could redefine the segment. I went hands-on, and these are my initial thoughts.

Talking things aesthetics, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is not just an alt; it is a sight statement. No matter how small the changes, it is all about design. And on colors? Don’t hold your breath. There is classic White and Black, but then BAM! Orange and Light Green show up. Black and Light Green have that seductive frosted-glass finish that really messes with the light, something the original couldn’t do. White is all about the pleasurable sandstone texture with a grip so comfy it feels like it would hold you tight. And Orange? Hmm, orange is just pure metallic swagger. I’ve been jamming with the Light Green, and holding it gives off a vibe as if one is not reviewing a phone but caressing art. The CMF Phone 1? That Pro version just makes it look…well, dated.
The Phone 2 Pro’s glass back is a pure sensory treat, with liquid smoothness on the touch. An unusual-but-refreshing take on customization is the four-screw mechanism — you basically pop off the back and get to kit it out with some accessories (naturally, extra cost). At 7.8 millimeters thin at a featherlight 185 grams, it easily outshines its predecessor, the almost bulky CMF Phone 1 at 8 millimeters and 197 grams. So, don’t worry about the elements; the IP54 rating grants it splashes- and dust-repellance.
The handset comes equipped with a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED display that offers good brightness in outdoor conditions.
Biggie on ultramodern: A noteworthy 6.77-inch stretchable and bendable AMOLED was placed on the CMF Phone 2 Pro! Visionaries imagine those arrays of colours bursting forth into life with 2392 x 1080 resolution. This screen doesn’t just show colours-but punches them out with 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Gaming? Movies? Butter-smooth 120Hz refresh rate action with an almost instant touch response rating of 480Hz! With HDR10+ support, the screen can provide great contrast and detail, even in panda-glass-protected conditions. Initial thoughts? Colours pop, promising an entertaining visual ride. There is a lot more to test in all scenarios for the first time.
The heart of the CMF Phone 2 Pro has been given to the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro, supposedly with 10% faster CPU speeds and, at best, a 5% rendered graphics uplift compared to the Dimensity 7300 in the original phone. Well, the jury is still out on it, so keep an eye out for our in-depth review.
The experience this time is powered by Nothing OS 3.2, built atop Android 15, which is currently the cutting edge. What else is one to expect of a future-proof device with three years of OS upgrades and six years of security patches? And having the 2 Pro being a little magical, it carries the gorgeous and intuitive Essential Space feature first seen in the Nothing Phone 3a line.

So, it is now the perfect time to talk about what the camera system on CMF Phone 2 Pro looks like: a triple threat to capture every other detail. The shining star is a 50MP main sensor (f/1.88 aperture, EIS-equipped) that can shoot crisp and well-stabilized shots. Need to be a little closer? The 50MP telephoto lens with a 20x digital zoom capability will somehow pull a faraway subject into sharp focus. An 8MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2 aperture) is set to take in large landscapes without missing even a square inch. Selfies? Best side coming right up with a 16MP front-facing camera (f/2.45 aperture).
A strong 5,000mAh battery fuels the phone, with swift charging speeds of 33W. As a bonus, Indian customers get the charger brick bundled inside the box! Need to pass some of that juice over? We are also looking at a 5W reverse wired charge, thereby turning your phone into a power bank for other devices.

Succinctly put, there is an air of expectation for raising the stakes in the budget market by CMF Phone 2 Pro. Refining the wholesome base laid by the CMF Phone 1, this new contender desires to go toe-to-toe with the Oppo K13, the Realme P3, and the Poco X7 set-ups. The CMF Phone 2 Pro should be on your radar if you really want good value for your money.
