Amazon to Reportedly Layoff 16000 Employees India Might Be Among Worst-Hit Regions
It’s said Amazon will cut 16,000 corporate jobs this week as it reportedly plans to remove from its workforce. The tech giant’s offices in Seattle, which is reportedly one of the worst-hit areas, could be among the most hit areas as thousands of people said they lost their jobs according to the report. The company fired approximately 14,000 employees in October 2025, and the new layoffs come after a total of about 12,000 workers were laid off. The company is reportedly planning to cut its workforce by 30,000 jobs by mid-2026, according to an article last year that was not unusual for the company’s efforts in both structured layoffs are directed towards that goal.
Amazon Layoff: 16,000 Roles Reportedly Being Cut
Reuters reported that the tech giant is planning to announce layoffs on Tuesday, according to a report from The Tech Company. The worst-hit areas include Amazon’s India offices, which are said to be among the roles that are being cut across the globe while positions are reportedly being eliminated. The company’s Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad offices are also reported to have suffered job cuts in particular.
According to the publication, citing anonymous people familiar with the subject, “the layoffs will affect the company’s Amazon Web Services (AWS), retail and Prime Video, devices as well as People Experience and Technology (human resources) divisions.” Nevertheless, the full scope is said to be unclear. It is said Amazon plans could be re-engineered, and nothing can be confirmed until the company makes the announcement.
The Free Press Journal reported that “there have been several online discussions about the layoff, suggesting that white-collar jobs across India’s offices are likely to be a trend,” The Daily Mail Online. It will be the biggest impact on reportedby by Cennai centre, which runs company operations, and is responsible for reportingby’s largest. Fire also is alleged to be the line of fire in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, which are mostly Amazon’s tech hubs. The pink slip was also given to about 800-1,000 Indian employees during the company’s October 2025 job cuts.
While the company has not stated why it had layoffs, reports say Amazon is trying to streamline bureaucracy that was constructed during the COVID-19 pandemic period because lockdown-linked accelerated growth of its employees “is doing what we’re supposed to do” in order to reduce complexity and efficiency. The company also reportedly has defined many roles as “over-needs to needs” with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and automation.
Interestingly, one report last year suggested that Amazon is planning to reduce the need for hiring new warehouse workers in the US and automate those jobs with AI-powered robots by the year 2033. If the company ends up executing those plans it is said that as many as 6,00,000 workers are not to be hired.
