Apples iPhone 19e Said to Launch in 2028 With Upgraded LPTO OLED Display

Earlier this month, Apple released the iPhone 17e in India and other global markets as its new entry-level iPhone model. The smartphone has a similar design and specifications as its predecessor, the iPhone 16e, which was unveiled last year, with an identical look. It has been just a couple of weeks since the launch of the new low-budget iPhone, but speculation about its alleged successors have begun to surface online. iPhone 18e will reportedly have Apple’s Dynamic Island feature instead of the top on the new iPhone 17e next year, rather than its notch featured in this year’. A major upgrade in display department could be a big change, leaks suggest that the iPhone 19e — which is expected to launch in 2028 — will now undergo ‘the next big step of this trend’.

ZDNet Korea, citing industry sources, says the Cupertino-tech giant is considering equipping the rumoured iPhone 19e with an LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) TFT OLED display. It is expected to be a major upgrade from the iPhone 17e’s panel of LTPS (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) Super Retina XDR (OLED) panels, which will launch in 2028 by the phone maker. This has been described as a “higher-efficient power” version of the former, which also supports broader range of variable refresh rates.

Likewise, it has been claimed that Apple is testing the effectiveness of the LTPO+ technology. Tech giant is said to be coming the same for a future iPhone Air (which could also come in 2028) and the company’s reported foldable phone will likely appear on the second half of this year.

In addition, the alleged iPhone Air model could also ship with the “Color Filter on Encap (CoE)” technology designed to remove polarisers and reduce screen reflection in outdoor lighting. This is also said to allow the company to build thinner devices,. But the Cupertino firm has not confirmed what is reported to have happened, however. So if you have to take it with a pinch of salt.

A report recently revealed the iPhone 18e will be equipped with Dynamic Island on its own. Apple’s A20 chipset could be used to power the phone, which would have been built on a 2nm process. The company’s new iPhone line-up, which ships with a display notch, would be another change in this.

The iPhone 17e, as mentioned above, started on March 2 in India at Rs. 2. Base model 64,900 with 256GB internal storage. The handset comes with Black, Soft Pink and White coloursways.
