Avowed Gets PS5 Release Alongside Major Anniversary Update With New Features
The new Xbox exclusive to launch on PS5 is Avowed, the action-RPG from Obsidian Entertainment’s Avaowed. The game was released on PC and Xbox Series S/X consoles in February 2025, and is now available on PlayStation exactly a year after its launch. Avowed has also received an “anniversary update” along with the PS5 version, which adds new features such as New Game Plus, photo mode and more.
Obsidian Entertainment (owned by Xbox-owners) announced Avowed’s new Patch 2. On February 17 a PS5 version of the game was released and launched by 0 update, which introduced ‘the game’ on PlayStation 5. After a multi-platform strategy in 2024, Microsoft has been launching its first-party games on PS5 since it pivoted to’multi-plattforms’.
Forza Horizon 5 released on PS5 last year, one of the year’s most selling ttiles was sold to its highest selling modelrs. The Outer Worlds 2 by Obsidian also launched on PS5, PC and Xbox Series S/X at the same time on October 29, 2025.
Also, Xbox has confirmed this year that it will launch first-party titles such as Forza Horizon 6, Fable and Halo Campaign Evolved on Sony’s console, among other games.
Avowes Gets Patch 2.0
Avowed also received its anniversary update on Tuesday, which delivered much-requested features and a series of quality-of-life improvements. It has added three new species of playable to the game, one of the largest features rolled out with the update is that it adds another three different types of . Besides Humans and Elves, Avowed players can now begin their journey as Dwarves, Orlans or Aumaua.
At the beginning of the game, the character creator of that game will have access to the new species in the original creation of its characters. The camp has a new mirror that allows players to change their character’s appearance and species during playthrough.
The update also includes New Game Plus, which will be available to players after they complete the main story with Avowed’s addition. In the mode, players will be able to replay the campaign with all unlocked abilities and spent attribute points, unique weapons and armour as well as other gear and items.
Besides New Game Plus, Avowed is also receiving custom-made difficulty modifiers, a new weapon type, photo mode and several quality-of-life improvements. A visual upgrade The RPG is also receiving a new look, with more lighting and better visual polish throughout the game.
It was delayed from its planned 2024 release, and Avowed was released on PC and Xbox Series S/X on February 18, 2025 with the game being relaunched as Avaowed. It was released on Xbox Game Pass day one of its own rebranding. Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart told Bloomberg earlier this month that Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 of the three games released by the studio in 2025 were not sold as well.
