Crimson Desert Has Officially Gone Gold Launch Set for March 19
South Korean developer Pearl Abyss’ new open world action-adventure game Crimson Desert has officially gone gold development on the game is complete. Wednesday, the studio announced that it had reached a milestone on development of the game’s social channels and would be developing for its next big hit. Crimson Desert is scheduled to be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on March 19.

Crimson Desert was a prequel to popular MMORPG Black Desert Online, but Pearl Abyss began working on the game as ‘one of the only single-player action-adventure titles that I can play. The game was released in 2019 and has been aired several trailers, as well as gameplay deep dives at numerous industry events such as The Game Awards (the first one to be played since its release), Gamescom’s Summer Game Fest or other games.
It has been a major international gaming event, with the presence of “Crimson Desert” at The Game Awards (the game developers Conference), Summer Game Fest and ChinaJoy Gamescom, TwitchCon; PAX East and West P Paris Games Week–and the Tokyo Game Show.” Peal Abyss said in its update on its website.

Crimson Desert Details
Crimson Desert had been scheduled to launch in late 2025, but was re-detailed to Q1 2026 in August last year. In a statement that “the various aspects of production leading up to the game’s launch, including offline distribution, voice-overs and console certification,” Pearl Abyss said at the time “It was in fact more than expected” timelines that “unavoidably” delayed the title.
Crimson Desert is a large open world action-adventure title that inspired by games such as Legend of Zelda, The Witcher 3, and Assassin’s Creed “The game” has been called Crimmson desert. It has been noted for its aesthetically stunning visuals and graphics, which was built on Pearl Abysson’s proprietary BlackSpace game engine.
The title of the open world is based on the continent of Pywel and follows the journey of protagonist Kliff and his Greymane friends. Crimson Desert has diverse and dynamic combat mechanics, a high level of interactivity across the open world, and multiple ways to travel through the vast landscape.
Crimson Desert will be released on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Mac on March 19, 2026. Game pre-orders are live across all supported platforms.
