Deepinder Goyal to Step Down as Eternal CEO; Blinkit’s Albinder Dhindsa Named Successor

On Wednesday, Zomato’s parent company Eternal Limited announced a major leadership change with its CEO Deepinder Goyal stepping down from his position with effect starting February 1, 2026. Albinder Dhindsa, who is the CEO of Blinkit, will become the new chief executive in the company said.

A letter to the shareholders in a statement said Goyal recently received attention from new ideas that involve higher risk, experimentation and exploration.

He explained that such ideas should be pursued outside a public company like Eternal, which needs to remain focused and disciplined in its current business model.

He said ‘I am very much attracted to this series of new ideas that involve significantly more risky exploration and experimentation,’ he said.

“These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal,” Goyal added.

He added that If these ideas belonged inside Eternal’s strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha joined gig workers last week in celebrating a victory for their “safety, dignity and work conditions” as the government ordered food delivery and quick-commerce platforms to do away with strict “10-minute delivery” commitments.

A video message titled “It’s an important day for gig workers,” Chadha said in a video statement ‘The Central government has removed the private companies’ “10-minute delivery” branding. I want to thank the Central government for intervening in the case,’ Chadha said ‘I would like apologise about the cruelty associated with “10-minute delivery” as real.

The promise of “10-minute delivery” is a mental strain on delivery workers and makes them drive dangerously to meet the deadline, risking other road users, he said.

Earlier Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked big food delivery and quick-commerce platforms to do away with strict ’10-minute’ delivery time commitments, insisting that the safety of delivery partners must be prior to speed.

Mandaviya also spoke with officials of Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato in Delhi during which he told them to remove strict delivery deadlines from their platforms and promotional material for the safety of delivery workers.
