Google Chrome Updated With Split View Built-In PDF Markup Tools and More Features

Google announced Thursday that it is making a new set of productivity-focused improvements for the Google Chrome browser. The additions are designed to help everyday and enterprise users manage tabs more efficiently and complete tasks faster, according to the tech giant based in Mountain View. One of the updates is a new tab organisation tool called Split View, which displays two tabs simultaneously. The annotation capability is also available for Chrome, which allows users to highlight text and add notes to a PDF.

New Features on Google Chrome

The first notable addition to Google Chrome is Split View, which has been the first major feature of a browser like Google. It allows users to see two tabs side by side within a single Chrome window as the name suggests. Rather than manually resizing individual browser windows, they can right-click on a tab and select the Split View option to pair it with another open tab. Google explained in a blog post that the browser will then automatically sort both pages evenly across the screen.

Split View is designed to help users compare documents and reference notes while drafting content, or work across multiple web apps at once without manually resize windows according to the company.

During the last two months of testing, this feature has been in use for several months and Gadgets 360 employees were allowed to access it before the official announcement.

Similarly, Google has also updated Chrome’s built-in PDF viewer with annotation capability. Users can also highlight text and add comments as well, thereby marking PDF files. Upon opening a PDF in the browser, users are shown annotation toolbar — meaning they can highlight text, draw and add comments or make basic markups without downloading the file,” according to the tech giant.

This is a Save to Google Drive feature that adds ‘Save to the ‘. The definition of means that users can store files and PDFs quickly to their drive account from within Google Chrome. They can save content directly to the cloud with a few clicks, without having to download files locally and upload them separately.

Depending on the company, the file is then uploaded to the user’s linked Google Drive account and can be used across devices in a separate Save from Chrome folder (streamlining cloud-based workflows), and reduce local storage usage.

Chrome is launching on desktop platforms in the new Chrome version, Google says features are being added. These are part of a phased rollout and may take some time to reach all users with such features.
