Google Maps Updated With Power Saving Mode; Know How to Use It on Your Pixel 10 Series Smartphone
Google Maps has been updated with a new Power Saving Mode, which is currently available on the Google Pixel 10 series of smartphones. It was announced with November Pixel Feature Drop that the feature, which has since been released to more users, is now available. The new mode is designed to save battery life and extend usage time while Google Maps are used for navigation. This is a wider version of this functionality, with several users on X posting screenshots that show it’s finally available on their Pixel 10 series phone.
As it has the new Power Saving Mode on Google Maps, the app switches to a black-and-white interface with its application’s change in brightness and refresh rate of screen while only updating is necessary navigation instructions.
How to Use Power Saving Mode
The Pixel 10 series currently has the exclusive Power Saving Mode in Google Maps. It is also available on your Google Pixel 10,pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10Pro XL and Pixel 8 Pro Fold. It only works in driving mode, and it is a . There’s no current support for walking and biking navigation, which is currently unsupported.
The feature can be activated on Google Pixel 10 series owners by navigating to Google Maps > Settings*** > *Navigation, and thenggling on Power Saving Mode under Driving Options.
After Navigation begins pressing the Power button, it will activate the low-power map view on your lock screen. Alternatively, tap the screen or hold up with Power to exit from the power button again. If you want to return in the mode, press the Power button again once again.
The Power Saving Mode merely displays the information (such as future turns) and saves battery by reducing screen brightness and colour use, while also saving up power. The Power Saving Mode can significantly increase battery life during longer drives, Google says, compared to standard navigation.
But Google’s new Power Saving Mode for the search engine Google Maps only work when the handset is vertically oriented. If you arrive at your destination, it automatically turns off and Google Maps returns to the full version.
