GTA 6 Physical Copies Wont Be Delayed Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick Clarifies

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on November 19, 2026, but a recent leak claimed that the game’s physical version could be “pushed back” to prevent leaks. But Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has now denied the rumour, saying Rockstar Games does not plan to delay the physical release of the game.

A second quarter of the earnings call, which Zelnick called for Tuesday’s third-quarter FY 2026 earnings calls by Rockstar parent Take-Two, was held on Tuesday where rockstar star Zellnick reaffirmed GTA 6’d launch date. The Take-Two boss also said Rockstar would launch marketing push for the game this summer.

Zelnick addressed the rumours about Take-Two’s decision to delay the physical copies of GTA 6 in an interview with Variety after the earnings call, saying that “It is not likely that early leaks and spoilers will be delayed.”

That’s not what is the plan, Zelnick told the magazine. He explains that GTA 6 physical copies and the game’s digital version will be released at the same time on November 19, 2026, as well as its own copy of the video, according to his clarification more or less.

Nevertheless, Take-Two and Rockstar are not yet locked down GTA 6’s pricing and editions at launch. That’s likely to be when Rockstar begins the launch marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto 6 this summer, and those with pre-order details will emerge.

GTA 6 Physical Version Delay Rumour

Another hacker last week, whose work has been reported on video game releases in Europe, said Rockstar Games did not plan to release GTA 6 physically — at least not for the launch day. The tipster added that the studio was cautious about leaks ‘if we have any physical copies of the game retailing at launch, and even in case there is something going on with it being leaked to us.

The leaker said that Take-Two and Rockstar would likely be releasing GTA 6 digitally only on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X at first, before publishing physical copies of the game several weeks later or in the first half of 2027.

But that claim, despite the fact that it was always far-fetched, seemed somewhat distant. Rockstar Games have not rushed to physical release games in order to prevent leaks from the past. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the studio’s final game, which was released digitally and in physical copies at launch simultaneously.

GTA 6 is set to release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on November 19, 2026.
