GTA 6 Reportedly Still Not Content Complete but New Release Date More Real and Solid Than Last One

After two delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 was re-released on November 19, 2026, the date of its current release date. While Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has said he is ‘highly confident’ in that launch date, critics are worried about the possibility of GTA 6 being delayed for another third time due to the scope of the project and a lack of new updates from developer Rockstar Games. However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has said that GTA 6 was not content to complete the last he heard and could be delayed again — adding “the new release date felt more real” and “solid.”

The latest episode on Ringer-Verse’s Button Mash podcast, Schreier discussed the state of GTA 6 development and a further delay in another installment as Speaker. In comparing Rockstar’s release timeline to its final one, Red Dead Reemption 2, the Bloomberg journalist said “The most recent game I have ever seen was that it is coming out.

Red Dead Reemption 2 had been originally announced for fall 2017 by Rockstar Games, but it was later re-delayed to spring 2018. A further time was taken to the fall window, when the Western action-adventure game was reintroduced back into the Fall Window and finally released on October 26, 2028. But if the case of GTA 6 would be like that, Schreier said ‘I wouldn’t be “super shocked”.

It confirmed a 2025 release window, with Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer dropping on December 3, 2023. Take-Two interactive later confirmed it was targeting a fall 2025 launch for GTA 6 in the coming months. The game was originally postponed by Rockstar for the first time in May 2025, when announcing it would be released on May 26, 2026. In November, six months later the studio slammed GTA 6 for another second time, setting the game’s current launch date of November 19, 2026.

Considering the delays and eventual release of Red Dead Reemption 2 as a marker, GTA 6 should then launch later this year without any further major delays.

GTA 6 Still Not ‘Content Complete’

Schreier said on the podcast that “the game wasn’t content, it was just the last I heard about a ,” Scheier told the show. It’s a big, complicated game this time around and the last I heard was that it wasn’t content full. I mean, that people were still ‘completing it up and finalizing level/missions as well the game’.’ He said ‘It is to see what will be going to make it into the match.

The way game development works is usually, you have your feature complete, your content complete and your bug testing phases phase; there’s a lot of boundaries that are blurred along the route in all those stages. But they are still making stuff, and we’ll be doing that soon — a whole lot of time for bugs fixing. But even in those phases, there’s a person who wants to sneak into some of the last-minute stuff,” he added.

Schreier, however, emphasized that GTA 6’s new November 19, 2026, release date was “a little more “real” and slightly more ‘solid’ than the fall 2025 launch window (and even the previous May 26 release deadline) did not feel as solid as it had been on September 20 25.

Rockstar Aiming for ‘Perfection’

But the stakes with GTA 6 were so high that Rockstar and its parent Take-Two would not settle for anything less than “perfection” following the release “The stock of Take–Tweo lives or dies on this game,’ Bloomberg journalist said. This game is a slip of the season, and shares drop 10 percent every time this games go down. And so yeah, it’s not something they will say in any kind of hacked state. If it is October and they like, ‘you know the game is not 100 percent ready’ I think they would rather slip than re-release it. Paraphrasingr ’It is.

In the final time Rockstar Games slammed GTA 6, the studio said that “the extra development time will allow it to polish and release this game further at a level of quality people expect from releasing ‘GTA’.”

He said ‘We want to thank you for your patience and support. The developer said in its update ‘We are very excited for players to experience while the wait is a little longer.

Following the second delay, Zelnick, the Take-Two boss, said he was “highly confident” in the new release date.
