Instagram Adds Support for Editing Comments Within 15-Minute Window

Earlier this month, Instagram has announced the launch of a new feature that allows users to edit their comments. Friday’s move, which was announced on Friday, addresses a long-standing limitation on the social media app. It is being released globally, according to the Meta-owned platform, which said ‘The feature is also under development. After posting, users can make changes to their commentation shortly after it has been able to fix typos or refine responses. Despite the fact that Instagram has supported editing posts for some time, it is not possible to edit comments until now.

Instagram Comments Can Be Edited Several Times

The new update allows users to edit their comments within 15 minutes of posting, Instagram said in a press note that “in the post” is an editing option. A limit on the number of edits one can make is not set by the social media platform, which means users may make multiple corrections or adjustments as needed.

If they want to edit a comment, they can tap on the newly added Edit option (which is below ‘published comment’) which appears under. When selecting it, a new pop-up appears that allows the comment text to be changed before saving the updated version.

Nevertheless, there are some limitations on . According to the company, only the text part of a comment can be edited. For example, this means that when a comment contains both text and an image, users will only be able to change the written content (not the image) but not the original.

Further, the edited comment will show a grey edited label (indicating that changes have been made) in an edit of this. However, Instagram does not provide a version history of the app’s . Once the comment is edited, other users will not be able to see the original comment once it has been edited.
