iPhone 18 Pro iPhone 18 Pro Max to Feature A20 Pro Chip Smaller Dynamic Island and More: Report

In September, Apple may launch the iPhone 18 lineup; however only the Pro models are expected to debut at a first. An industry analyst said the Cupertino-based tech giant could introduce a number of notable upgrades to Pro models in the lineup, according to new data released today. A smartphone, a ubiquitously known as the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 8 Pro Max handsets could be equipped with an A20 chip under the hood while the C2 modem may power networking via USB.

iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max Upgrades

GF Securities, an investment firm, said in a research note seen by Macrumors that industry analyst Jeff Pu (pictured) was the focus of what would be upgrades on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 8 Pro Max. Supposed versions of both models would be smaller dynamic island, with the tech giant expected to move some of the Face ID technology (including flood illuminator) under the screen.

It is possible that the A20 Pro chipset, fabricated from TSMC’s first-generation 2-nanometre process, could be behind the hood of the iPhone 18 pro and iPhone18 Pro Max. This alleged SoC is said to have a new architecture and packaging design, which may be more efficient than the previous one (and power efficiency) of its predecessors.

The cellular and networking capabilities of could be further enhanced. According to analyst, the next-generation N2 chip is behind the iPhone 18 Pro models but performance gains are still under wraps – although exact performance improvements remain unknown. Jeff Pu, who allegedly said the alleged handsets will be with Apple’s third-generation C2 modem after corroborating previous leaks, told reporters.

It will also reportedly support NR-NTN (New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks), a technology that could allow the iPhone to connect with low-Earth orbit satellites for internet access in places without regular cellular service. This modem, which will likely improve on Apple’s first-generation C1 and C1, also reportedly see improvements in efficiency and performance in weak or congested networks of the C2 modeM.

Lastly, the last notable upgrade that is said to be on the cards for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 8 Pro Max’s card-holder line of an aperture lens variable on 48-megapixel primary Fusion camera. This theory would theoretically allow the iPhone camera to adjust the amount of light entering the sensor, giving more control over depth of field and exposure.

But if true, it would make the iPhone 18 Pro models among the first tech giant smartphones to have this technology.
