EA Lays Off Workers Across Battlefield Studios Despite Battlefield 6s Record Breaking Success
Electronic Arts is laying off workers from its teams that worked on Battlefield 6, the best-selling game of 2025 in the US. The game’s “record-breaking success” EA is cutting jobs at Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect and Motive Studios that work together to form Battlefield Studios. How many developers are hit by the latest wave of retrenchment at EA has yet to be determined.
Layoffs Hit Battlefield Studios
First reported by IGN Monday were the layoffs across Battlefield teams. An EA spokesman told the publication that the company was restructuring its Battlefield teams, even though the franchise still had one of its “biggest priorities” in mind when it came to an endgame. Paraphrast.

Battlefield 6 has been so successful, but Layoffs at Battlefeld Studios come despite the huge success of Battleford 6. The first-person shooter was reportedly the best-selling game of 2025 in US history, beating rival Call of Duty. The Battlefield 6 is estimated to have sold over 20 million copies.
In the days following the October 2025 launch of Battlefield 6 EA referred to the game as a ‘record breaking success’ and confirmed that it was one of the “biggest gaming and entertainment launches of this year” in terms of its popularity. While its successful launch, Battlefield 6 has struggled to keep players in a competitive live service space. The launch of Battlefield 6’s Season 2 was postponed in January by EA to further polish new content. Game’s Season 2 update, which introduced new maps, modes and multiple gameplay changes, was released on February 17, but did little to move the needle. In the wake of this release, Battelfield 6 had a concurrent Steam player count that reached just over 96,000 at less than 96%.
