Motorola Edge 60 Pro First Impressions

Motorola Edge 60 Pro First Impressions

Motorola has let loose a bright stream of innovations! Truly, very shortly after the Edge 60 Stylus, the Pad Pro tablet, and the Moto Book laptop, one great lay-the-bomb news delayed entry: Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra. This was certainly not your grandpa’s flip design; we are actually talking about the US arrival of next-gen folding aesthetics. Also giving some price-range glitz are the arrival of the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro.

India, hold tight! While Razr rumors remain just that, Motorola is teasing the Edge 60 Pro, for a launch somewhere around the 30th of April. I was lucky to be among the first ones in the hands of the phone. Fasten your seat belts; here are the first impressions.

Motorola returns with the Edge 60 Pro in hopes of setting things right after the tarnished reputation of its predecessor. The Edge 50 Pro had fired the imagination with its vegan leather, the cool novelty of wireless charging, and tempting camera specs, all for Rs. 31,999. The only limping factors were the battery performance and glitchy display. Its new chapter of redemption will be written by Motorola, as it battles back to the forefront with the new Edge 60 Pro. Will the company really regain its promised glory?

The Motorola Edge 60 Pro will be available in three colours at launch

The phone in its white color was gently urging, “Upgrade your phone.” A familiar look in the eyes of many, it retained the much-loved vegan leather texture, as it were, now boasting an IP69 rating, being very much dust, dirt, and water-resistant, with a military-grade MI-STD-810H certification to back it up. But the real kicker? Being impossibly thin-it’s almost like an illusion, considering how gargantuan the battery is inside. Having made that, select your expression: Shadow, all cool and subtle; Sparkling Grape, on the finer side; or Dazzling Blue, bright and bloomful of charisma. The Sparkling Grape, in particular, sang of the premium nature, bearing evidence of intricate design.”

The Motorola Edge 60 Pro has a 120Hz, pOLED panel

The screen has taken a turn, literally. Motorola brands this as a 4C curved display, and while the 6.67-inch, 1500p, 120Hz panel might look like a visitor from last year, don’t get fooled. Got Corning Gorilla Glass 7i at its top and bottom edges now with a slightly less dramatic curve. The display goes deeper into the sides than its gentler dip at the top and bottom, giving it this waterfall effect that’ll grab your attention. The refresh rate? Motorola turned it down from 144Hz to 120Hz; I doubt you’ll feel it. What will blind you, though, is the insisting 4,500 nits of peak brightness that this new pOLED panel touts, apparently, far outshining the Edge 50 Pro’s display.

The Edge 60 Pro’s camera setup comes with some changes this year

Here is one serious camera makeover this year. We are ushering in a 50MP Sony LYT 700C sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens to double as a macro monster. The existing 10MP telephoto lens and 50MP selfie camera have stayed put without any fuss. But hold on where did laser autofocus (ToF) and the 3-in-1 sensor (exposure, white balance, flicker) go? They’ve been replaced by multi-spectrum sensors for color accuracy, which pairs well with the Pantone-Validated camera and display.

Moto Edge 60 Pro has finally received a major shot in the arm! There are rumors that the processor has made a next-level leap! Welcome the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme, alleging the last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Generation 3 to be slower. Can’t be having the upgrade party without a RAM and storage upgrade: 8/12GB of fast LPDDR5X, 256GB of generous UFS 4.0 storage. Motorola isn’t just promising raw performance; they are pushing hard on unleashing Moto AI 2.0 that will satisfy on-device processing needs and create a more effective understanding of user intent for an intuitive user experience.

Moto AI has been applied to several parts of the user experience

Tap the AI key and BAM! Moto AI 2.0 springs to life. While the demo units kept its promised magic under wraps, the potential is undeniable. Imagine instructing your phone with your voice to pull information from Gemini or Perplexity. The interface- a card that smoothly glides up from the bottom, blending into whatever app you are using. The groundwork- a freshly-minted Hello UI running on Android 15. Stay tuned for the full review where we will unveil the secrets of Motorola’s AI brain.

It speaks in quasi-warbling fashion so it can harness the very artistry of the iPhone 16’s technology. Just imagine-the possibilities of creating your custom color palettes and having them applied to every single photo in a consistent manner, converting mundane snapshots into vibrant and very personal works of art.

The phone felt quite slim for a device with a 6,000mAh battery

Battery life of Edge 50 Pro got criticized and somebody at Motorola listened. Welcome the Edge 60 Pro, now equipped with a massive 6,000mAh battery – this one huge jump from the 4,500mAh of its ancestor. The trade-off? Fast charging gets dialed down to a still-snappy 90W wired, while Qi wireless charging of 15W remains a convenient alternative.

So has Motorola cracked the code yet? On paper, they certainly have a top-class product in their lineup. But can it deliver on its promises? We are putting the company’s bold claims in the testing phase. Stay tuned for our more, in-depth review, which will finally deliver the verdict: Is the IV contender for the win, or is it just all talk?
