MeitY Urges Users to Follow Cybersecurity Precautions
There goes a digital siren from the IT Ministry: “Online waters are treacherous! Navigate with extreme caution.” Their X post warns: “Cyber threats and deceptive currents of misinformation seek to ensnare the unwary. Heed cybersecurity protocols. Remain alert, patriotic, and secure. Your vigilance is our nation’s shield.”
“Share funds for lifeline service: Post verified helpline numbers, official advisories, and real-time notices of relief distribution. Your input can empower the victims and keep our community equally informed with cutting-edge information from the very minute of need.”
Between MeitY and the users, it has been recommended to double-check the news before sharing it. Let us never allow misinformation to be spread across! Go online and make use of the various fact-checking resources and download PIB to fight falsehoods online. We have to stand on our feet with respect to our digital rights.
Operation Sindoor: Exercise some wisdom before posting! The Ministry of IT warns everyone to exercise extreme caution while surfing the Net. Sharing troop movements or any related defense information compromises national security. Keep sensitive information away from the Net.
An advisory on the recent order says exercise increased caution and verify before you forward anything. This call for action follows an alert issued by Doordarshan News on X that warned about a possible tide of propaganda following “Operation Sindoor.” Citizens are requested to examine such information very keenly and report any suspicious material to the PIB fact-checking team.
Don’t add fuel to the fire. Under the IT Ministry orders, those inciting violence or causing communal hatred through provocative posts are to be taken down. Come across a suspicious post online? Then be a digital watchdog and immediately report the fake news to the Government on WhatsApp at +91 8799711259 or email at [email protected]. Let there be sanity in the digital space!
