Samsung Galaxy S26 Series to Support Hey Plex Hotword for Perplexity Voice Assistant

The next generation of smartphones, which will likely include the standard Galaxy S26, GalaxyS26+ and the Galaxys26 Ultra, will support another AI agent, Samsung said Monday. The company said Perplexity AI will also be supported by the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, which is a complement to Galaxy AI. This means users can use the ‘Hey Plex’ hotword to call on the AI assistant, or by pressing the side button (i.e. It will also be used in the company’s built-in apps and some third-party apps.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Models Will Offer Perplexity AI Integration Across Samsung Apps

In the company’s new blog post, it said that Samsung will “install Perplexity” as an additional AI agent for “upcoming flagship Galaxy devices”. It already has Google’s Gemini AI, and the firm’S in-house Galaxy AI agent on Samsung smartphones. Earlier this year, Samsung announced that its newer Bixby assistant would be powered by Perplexity AI.

In the same way as Galaxy AI, the Perplexity agent will be embedded in Samsung’s ecosystem like it is with its own company. This means that the company’s apps such as Samsung Notes, Reminder, Calendar, Clock and Gallery apps will provide Perplexity AI integration. The Galaxy S26 will also support select third-party apps.

But Samsung isn’t the first smartphone maker to support third-party AI agent on its handsets, despite being an “original” phone maker that has not been released by Sony. According to Lenovo-owned Motorola in April 2025, Perplexity AI will be added on the smartphone’s next generation of smartphones. A perplexity ia assistant is available in all new Motorola handsets.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to feature in this year’s lineup, which will be confirmed to launch a new Privacy Display system. The Galaxy S26 series will be launched at its first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, Samsung has already confirmed that it will launch a new flagship galaxy unpacked. Similarly, the company is likely to launch the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxybuds4 Pro with a new design at the launch event.
