Sonys Upgraded PSSR Upscaler Is Rolling Out to Silent Hill f Crimson Desert and More Games on PS5 Pro
Sony is releasing the newer version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) on more PS5 Pro games. The PlayStation parent said on Monday that upgraded PSSR is now rolled out to games such as Silent Hill f, Monster Hunter Wilds, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Crimson Desert and more after the launch of Resident Evil Requiem was unveiled last month.
During launch, Resident Evil Requiem on PS5 Pro appeared for the first time in upgraded PlayStationSR. The technology also provides better image quality without sacrificing framerates, as it does for . Sony is now releasing the more advanced version of PSSR to more games with a PS5 system software update.
Upgraded PSSR Rolling Out to More Games
The update also adds to the PSSR support of Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake and Silence Hill f; EA’S Dragon Age The Veilguard, Remedy’. Alan Wake 2; Ninja Theory’s Saga Hellblade II; Square Enix Final Fantasy VII Rebirth; Koei Tecmo (North 3 and Rise of the Ronin); Capcom Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon’d Dogma 2 (besides Resident Evil Re).
Crimson Desert will be supported by the advanced version of PSSR when it launches later this week on March 19. Sony also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 would receive a patch which adds advanced PSSR support in the next few weeks. Additionally, CD Project Red announced a free Cyberpunk 2077 technology update for the PS5 version of the game would be released in “the not-too-distant future” for users of PS5.

With the March 16 latest PS5 system software update, the upgraded PSSR began rolling out in phases and will gradually be rolled out to all users over the next few days. You can also manually check for the system update in PS5 systems settings, if you don’t see a notification about the new system.
The upgrade PSSR is another step in our commitment to re-inventing the PS5 Pro experience. Sony said ‘It will support the launch of most new PS5 Pro titles moving forward, so players continue to see improvements in image quality and performance.
On January 27, with the release of Resident Evil Requiem, the first game to use new upscaling technology on PS5 Pro, it was released alongside the launch for the upgraded version of PSSR. PSSR also increases the quality of game images and has been used to increase the effective resolution of more than 50 games on PS5 Pro so far. Sony’s Project Amethyst partnership with AMD is a reason for the new PSSR version of its predecessor, The PSVR.
