Valve Reportedly Working on SteamGPT an AI-Powered Tool for Steam Support and Counter-Strike 2 Anti-Cheat

It is said that Valve is working on an AI-powered tool for its popular PC games storefront Steam, which would support platform and anti-cheat measures against Counter-Strike 2. According to information data mined from Steam code, the tool is called SteamGPT. Steam is often updated by Valve, the most recent one reviving the design of the Steam store home page.

SteamGPT Reportedly in the Works

In Steam code (via InsiderGaming) a recent discovery by noted Steam data minen and creator Gabe Follower, was made of mentions of SteamGPT. In X, screenshots of the code shared by the user’s code suggest that SteamGPT could help with Steam support issues. According to the data miner, “The AI-powered feature also appeared linked with Trust Score and Counter-Strike 2 anti-cheat measures.”

Valve has yet to confirm plans for a future AI-powered Steam feature. If SteamGPT is rolled out in beta, then it would be first released at some point.

In January, Valve notably revised Steam’s guidelines for disclosure of AI use in game development were also changed. From the time of 2024, developers have had to provide AI disclosure on their PC games store page. Steam admitted with its new AI disclosure guidelines that some of the tools built into many game development processes may be a part of an artificial intelligence-powered tool, and therefore did not need to be disclosed.

The storefront is also regularly updated by Valve, which has also continued to update its store front. Earlier this month, the company released an updated design for Steam store home in beta. This is a new layout for home page, which allows users to search more games online. The home page, which has been redesigned to display more information and content, higher resolution game art and an updated discover queue also features the newer-style home site.

On April 2, Steam Client Beta participants were able to receive the update for the updated, which was released on April 2. It will also be shown on store home on Steam Deck or in Big Picture mode, as well as the new design.
